Software engineer. Trying to give well.

What I stand for

I read *Doing Good Better* on a flight to my sister's wedding in 2019. By the time I landed I had a spreadsheet and was a little annoyed at myself for not making one sooner.

Five years in, I give 10% of pre-tax income, split across three buckets: things that work now, things that might work later, and things that almost no one funds. The pages I read most often are GiveWell research write-ups and Our World in Data. The hardest part isn't the giving — it's not pretending I have it figured out.

What I stand for
Global healthAI safetyAnimal welfareEffective giving

I want my career and my money to do as much good as I can reasonably figure out — and I'd rather be 80% right and giving than 100% right and waiting.

Organizations I support

Against Malaria Foundation

Funds and distributes long-lasting insecticidal nets in malaria-endemic regions.

When I argue with myself about whether a dollar is worth giving, AMF is the answer I keep landing on. Cheap, measured, life-saving.

Donate

The Humane League

Coalition-driven advocacy that pressures food companies to end the worst forms of factory farming.

If you take animal suffering at all seriously, the numbers are staggering. THL is the most strategic organization I've found in the space.

Donate

ARC (Alignment Research Center)

Research nonprofit working on theoretical foundations for safe and aligned AI.

I work in AI. It would be strange to not put some money toward people doing the unsexy, mathematical version of worrying about it.
